I've read the first series and enjoyed it. When this book came out I put it aside for later. Well.... I forgot about it. Until the second book came out. A good start for a new series, but why so long for the second book? Whatever...... I'm starting the second book now.

I finally find the time to read and decided to try my first eBook and am enjoying this world. I've read the entire Morcyth series this past week and currently working on the most recent "Dark Mage Book Two". I loved the 'adjustment' switch between James and his friends in this book and continue to enjoy the small winks to the 'reader' as James let slip small allusions to 'his world'. I have encountered minor editing errors throughout the series but nothing jarring nor disruptive to the story. I was also pleasantly surprised to see a reference to the Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory here on the Big Island! I will share this with the owners who will be most assuredly happy. :) Aloha. -C
  • Excellent if you ignore about 8 grammatical errors.

Other than wishing the sentences were double checked before being published, this is an excellent series. It is action packed and keeps one breathlessly waiting to see what will happen next. I sure wish I could edit this book or any of Brian's previous books that I have already bought, and save the changes. I love the subtle hints of what may have to be fixed in later issues. The 4 black spots and the power drain will probably be addressed. NOW! Where is the next book?

I have read the entire parent series, and loved it! when i started this one, i couldn't put it down just like the parent series. I hope the next one comes out soon and I hope even more for an even longer series.

I'm not sure I've come to grips with James being labeled as "the dark Mage" as he does much good in this world but I've noticed the beginning he was rendered nearly powerless by his new foe and I'd thought he'd become greatly stronger considering his time and mastery with conjurings. I'm not disappointed by the plot but much was at time frustrating though that's what keeps the edge... Much kudos J. Kaahu

While Mr Pratt's writing style improved dramatically over the course of the parent series, this book reads more like it was done by a ghost writer. Gone is the simpler writing style, missing is the love of something new. There is no mystery, the reader is dragged from one predictable scene to another with little thought and nothing to show for it. In the end, I couldn't care less what happened to the characters and while I purchased each new book as soon as i finished the previous I doubt i will waste my money on the next. A sad place to leave a world i had grown so interested in. Two stars for effort, but nothing for soul. Mark H
