This is book 6 in the Iron Horse Legacy series and it features Drake and Cassie. She’s a county sheriff and he’s a former Navy SEAL who’s ready to listen to Hank Patterson’s pitch for joining Brotherhood Protectors. Trouble is brewing that throws these two together to solve an old but new mystery. The events in this story line just kept piling up and had me shaking my head at the puzzle pieces that would click into place. This is a well thought out story line! I love spending time with the Brotherhood Protectors and I can’t wait for more!

Drake Morgan, ex Navy Seal, is tired of working in Texas for very little pay. He’s not exactly sure what he wants to do, but KNOWS he does want to be a hired gun. When a job opportunity in construction presents itself, he quits his job, packs up his apartment and heads to Montana. Drake, along with other ex military men, are helping to restore the Lady Luck Lodge. When demolition begins, Drake discovers a dead body hidden within the walls… Cassie Douglas quit law school a semester shy of graduating, to return to Montana. Cassie works as a sheriff’s deputy. When she’s not working, she scouring the area for her missing friend Penny. While we never find out where Penny is, Cassie and newly “deputized” Drake work together to solve the mystery of the lady behind the wall. The closer they get to the truth, the more they have to watch their backs as they are now targets of the killer. Drake and Cassie’s story is a great addition to the Iron Horse Legacy series! It had just enough suspense to keep you at the edge of your seat and flipping the pages. I also enjoyed that even though Hank Patterson of Brotherhood Protectors offered Drake and the other ex military men jobs, they ALL initially rejected the offers. I truly enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic suspense story! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Former Navy Seal and mercenary Drake Morgan is recruited for the Brotherhood Protectors but he turns him down so Hank offers him a job using his carpenter skills to help restore the Lucky Lady. On the way he is stopped for speeding by Deputy Cassie Douglas and what happens next will keep you up way past your bedtime..lol. Suspense, danger, action, mystery and so much more…can’t wait for the next book in this series!!

I was really liking the book until I got to Chapter 9-10&11 and found that they were exactly like Chapters 2 thru 4. Otherwise a good read.
