The La Jolla setting sounds divine, so much so that I’d like to visit. The characters are believable and sound like a fun group. A good, quick read.

Pretty good read. Research is evident in the writing. The plot was well thought out and the dialogue intelligent. Some token, surface level representation for diversity. Only a few typos. The Pacific Vista Ranch cast cameo is organically woven in and doesn’t detract from first time readers. Does unfortunately over-explain at times and rehashes a lot of things, which makes for some repetitive reading. Charlie also sometimes reacts to old information like it’s new. Can be read as a standalone.

I love happy endings, and this was just that. As rivals and very competitive, the two main characters were mostly at each other’s throats. But as the story continued, they could not keep their emotions in tact. They very much got involved and with 4 other owners of the dream company that had been created got suspicious, it became harder for them. as the ending got closer, they decided that being together, was important to both, they mended their differences and love prevailed. Such a good ending. Thant U so much.

I see the potential for another really good series from this author! Charlie and Ryan were one coworkers and competitors, so it’s difficult for Charlie to trust that he truly wants her to help with the finishing touches on his dream. But she has to admit that he does have a spectacular plan, if not always the best method for execution. As for Ryan, he can’t get past his hostility toward a situation he got himself into at first, so he runs hot and cold and makes Charlie’s head spin. And just when it seems like all is too good to be true, reality comes crashing in like the Kool-Aid man to provide the misery Charlie was hoping would stay away for once. Can Ryan win her back, or is it too little too late with the sting of duplicity sprinkled on top? I really liked the “there’s a secret and it’s going to be ugly when it comes out” vibe that the author gave this book. Along with the excellent character development, some catching up with Ryan’s family from the previous series, and the very real dilemma Ryan and Charlie face when it all comes crashing down, this made for a story that I didn’t want to walk away from. I’ll be interested to see how the author does with the next book, because I see some trouble brewing with one of the partners and a little sister.

The first book of the series and it did not disappoint. Visiting old characters from this author previous series is good you do not need to read that to follow with this new one. Rival to lovers is always a great read in my book. The characters is this book are so good together. NO weak woman in this book and no pushover wanna be alpha.
