Cane and Charlie’s story was a fantastic beginning to the Blackout Series by Stephanie St Klaire! They are both in Vegas working together undercover, hiding from a mad man that is after Charlie and willing to stop at nothing to get what he wants. The story is definitely full of unexpected twists and turns throughout that made the story even more enjoyable than expected. The story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but I really cannot wait to see what is in store next for these characters. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book keeps you going almost from the first chapter. What would you do if everything went dark? As witness protection has failed Charlie, she is going to need Operative Cane to keep her safe. I got extremely sucked into the plot and am very eager to see the next book as this one takes you a ride that’s hard to forget I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Should I like the secondary couple more than the main couple? Because I found myself more interested in them at times then the action going on with Cane and Charlie. The prologue grabbed me right away, but when we fast forwarded into real time, Charlie was less ballsy then when she was introduced to Cane. That’s my biggest complaint...even knowing that being hidden away from a serial killer for years has got to be taxing on a gal, it took me a few chapters to get reinvested in Charlie and Cane. I seldom read books with cliffhangers or those that are parts of duets, unless both books have already been released. I need that instant gratification of knowing how the story is going to end. So I waited until part two was coming up for publication soon so I wouldn’t need to wait that long. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
