Description

This is a collection of stories from the Upper Potomac River Basin and includes tales from Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.  The stories are narrated by local tour guide and storyteller, Robert Bela Wilhelm.
The first story “The Doppelganger of Fort Ritchie”  tells about Fort Ritchie and the role it played in defeating the Nazis in WWII, with a special focus on the novelist Julian Green and his deeds as a doppelganger. 
The second story “The Devil’s Backbone”  is set along Antietam Creek in Maryland at a stone bridge and an escarpment known as the Devil’s Backbone.  It is a tale from the Scots-Irish settlers about about outwitting the devil.
The third story “South Mountain Magic” is set in Zittlesville on South Mountain, Maryland, and a folktale from the German settlers about enchantment, magic, and buried treasure.
