Can be read as a stand-alone, but better as part of the series because you want to know and fall in love with the characters and families. 100% protectors and supporting individuals and their strengths. Rancher Luke Hart trusts only his family. He tracks down Maddie Vale as a favor for his brother, to make sure she’s okay. But she’s not okay. Maddie has severe anxiety from her days as a child being held by a dangerous criminal. She has a therapy dog and good friends and a business with her father, but her days are mostly uncomfortable. When she spots Lucas following her, she’s terrified. Lucas is able to reach and assure Maddie that he is there to protect only and soon the two become more than just bodyguard and victim. The threat is real though and they will need to stay vigilant. Yes there is some suspense here, but it’s more relationship building and family support and falling in love. It’s romance with heart. Loved so much the support from all the family popping up at crunch time from the Harts to a couple of the Stocktons! So awesome. It’s what they do. Be there when needed. And even sometimes when they’re not needed. A great addition to the series. Heartbreakingly romantic.

Tears from both empathy and happiness occur in these pages of a celebrity Hart rancher, Lucas Hart sent on his brother Jacob’s behalf to report in on a missing girl. The drama and emotions alone are what make this story riveting and captivating. I enjoy this author for her heart in her stories and Maddie and Lucas do get their happy ever after even when the reader wonders if there will be one. Great great. Phew. There were some big, big feels in this book. The emotions were really the driving force in this story so buckle up. You get all the swoony swoons while also having your heartstrings pulled by all the intense emotions. This forced proximity, guarded MCs, bodyguard romantic suspense tale had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, danger, spice, and healing. The characters are so three dimensional they could almost walk off the page in all their messy, lovable, relatable, scarred humanness. Maddie owns a florist shop in Boston. She has a protective therapy dog and wonderful friends but she’s haunted by her past. She is bruised by not broken, resilient, fiercely loyal, and vibrant. Lucas Hart is a billionaire who had a traumatic childhood and has a large loving found family in Oregon. He is scarred from his past but is also loving, loyal and protective. He comes to Boston to put eyes on Maddie at the request of his brother Jacob, someone from Maddie’s long ago forgotten past, who just wants to know that she is okay. When a potentially credible threat to Maddie is discovered shortly thereafter, Lucas and Maddie begin spending all their time together to keep her safe. There is instant chemistry and attraction between them but there are a lot of obstacles to forever. It was beautiful to watch this story unfold with all the messy humanness, trauma, baggage unpacking, soul healing, and danger anticipation. The story was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline. I loved, loved this heart warming, swoony love story and the Harts’ beautiful cobbled together found family. I cannot wait to read the next of the Harts’ stories.

Let me tell you why I enjoy Stephanie Rowe’s books. They are full of heart. You literally fall in love with the characters. As a reader you are drawn into the story, invested in the outcome. Stephanie Rowe has a way of grabbing your attention from page one and before you know it hours have passed and the book is finished. I am a huge fan of the Hart family and because of them a true believer of found families being just as important as blood relatives. Happy reading!!

This is the first book in the series I have read. regardless of not having read the first three books, you can dive right in successfully. I loved the emotional evolution of the characters and their backstories. Building up the side characters as well leads me to believe there will be more about them in future books. Leaves you wanting to know what their backstories are.I was so engrossed by the story it felt shorter than I would've liked. Hopefully there will be more about the main characters in future releases. I'm going to go back and read the other Stockton and Harts books to see how it changes this story for me Definitely worth the read.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Hart Ranch series and this one did not disappoint! Maddie and Lucas find themselves on a journey of courage, learning, letting down their walls, loving someone even after betrayal. Will they survive the evil that is coming for Maddie? OMG!!! The best yet!! Stephanie has outdone herself! I am in love with this book. I was on an emotional roller coaster. I just love the banter, love and laughter. This is a must read! The only thing is I wanted more to read! I just love love Maddie and Lucas!! Thank you Stephanie you def did not disappoint!
