Stuart Woods died in July 2022 before he could finish Obsession and the most recent Stone Barrington book Near Miss. Brett Battles, the author of the quite good Jonathan Quinn novels, was contracted by Stuart Woods’ estate to finish these two novels. Yes, they feel slightly different than earlier Stuart Woods books, but it was nice to read them and get some closure to the series. Not sure if there will be any more Barrington adventures forthcoming. RIP Mr. Woods.

I have probably read every book Stuart Woods has had published and he did not write this one. It’s boring and amateurish and he’s risking his franchise by letting someone else write his stories. It’s not so bad if he lets this happen with Teddy Fay novels, but the most recent Stone Barrington story also showed less quality, as well.
Woods is my favorite author of fiction and it hurts to see him follow the path of James Patterson.
