Description

She was created for a purpose so revolutionary, someone was willing to kill for it.
Seventeen-year-old Lexi Matthews keeps two secrets from her elite boarding school classmates—she’s the daughter of a famous and controversial geneticist, and she can influence people’s thoughts.

But after new student Jack DeWeese heals her broken arm with an anything-but-simple touch, he forces Lexi to face a new reality—her abilities reach much further than speaking to the minds of others.

After Lexi’s father goes missing and she receives threatening emails, she can’t decide whether to fall into Jack’s arms or run and hide.

As Lexi seeks answers to what she and Jack are, she discovers a truth more unsettling than anything her science books can teach. And letting Jack into her life of secrets is not only a threat to her very existence, but it just might break her heart wide open.

It’s not a life-changing classic, to be sure. While the plot was interesting, the story tried to carry it beyond its potential. Romance and trust is forced for the sake of the story. There are timeline contradictions not caught in editing, and the point of view is inconsistent. Characters’ motivations and actions jump around to create drama and serve an unrealistic protagonist-centered plot progression. It’s immature, as if written by a teenager infatuated too much with bodies and not enough with the reality of people. I’ve actually read fanfiction miles better than this.

I like the outline of this story, but got really frustrated with the writing. Too much flip-flopping of the protagonist’s emotions. But, maybe the author just did a really good job of capturing normal teenage angst.
  • Just part of the story

This is not a complete story. It is the first part of a story. Kind of like the first chapter. It does not have an ending of part of a story. It has no conclusion. It is just a story that stops and you have to buy another book to continue the story. It’s best to buy the book with four books included in one price so you can continue the story in one book. It is just wrong to sell a book and pretend it is a complete story when it does not include the end of a story. A trilogy or a series of books should have some sort of an ending with each book. This is like buying a book where someone has ripped out the ending chapter(s). Sooo wrong. As wrong as that is, the story is pretty good. Just a dishonest way to sell more than one book.
  • Missing pages

It seems that at the end of each chapter it is missing a page and it is very annoying. It would be awesome if you could fix that glitch for me that would be awesome.

Riveting. I was at first annoyed that the author played with your expectations making you believe answers were forthcoming and then not giving you the awaited answer. But as you delve further into the story, she finally brings it all together and leaves you wanting more.
