  • Not my best read

So this is my book clubs selection for this month. I got through it but it's not what I enjoy in a novel. Writing was very elementary, character-development skills need work, and the "twisted plot" left a lot to be desired. I know I won't be reading anymore by this author. I'm glad for him that he's a NYT best seller but I prefer a better writing. I love African American fiction and mystery but from a better writing style along the lines of Bernice L. McFadden, J. California Cooper, Walter Mosley, etc. I had to go back an re-read and reference with notes because of the lack of flow and consistency.

Love the ending. Can not wait for the sequel. I believe Connie have more to her than we all think. I think she did kill Krystal mom. Good read.

This was pretty good. Had me second-guessing the story the whole time. Carl Weber doesn't disappoint.
