The story begins in Mexico City where Stephen Austin and his young friend Ned are in jail. Ned manages to escape and begins the adventure of traveling back to Texas to warn the others of Santa Ana's real plans. There is action all along the way between the fugitives, the Mexican army, the Native Americans and the Texan cowboys. It's an exciting story, with much historical detail.
