Description

Introduction I did not set out to be an occupational therapist and, indeed, some might say that I am not one now. From about the age of 8, I began reading American comic books and I learned how to draw from copying the superheroes within them. I wanted to be a comic book artist when I grew up. By the age of 19, I was studying for a degree in Fine Art in Belfast and it seemed like my dream was within reach. However, after a major disagreement with one of my lecturers over the meaning of art, I dropped out of art college. Luckily, I found another course that included the study of anatomy and physiology, psychology, art and crafts, and drama. Thus began my odyssey into the (for me) unchartered world of occupational therapy.
