Description

The President is coming to London, but not to an entirely warm welcome. A fanatical mullah is offering a blessing to anyone who will assassinate the President, and though most London Muslims think the mullah has crossed the line, a few think otherwise.

Urgently, Sean Dillon, General Charles Ferguson, and the rest of the small band known as the “Prime Minister’s private army” are called in, augmented by an extraordinary new recruit, an intelligence captain and Afghan war hero named Sara Gideon. She has her own deep contacts, but the more she investigates, the more she discovers herself in a very dark place indeed.

For the assassination plan is only the beginning…

I have read all his books and this is a complete failure. Epic horrible! I normally finish a Higgins book over a few days. This one took weeks because it was so boring it kept putting me to sleep. If you remove all references to the characters drinking, eating and arrogance the book would be a short story. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I've been reading Higgins' books for more than 20 years, and this is an epic fail. Thin plot, poorly developed story lines that could have been predicted by a 10 year old. Simply put - his worst book ever. I won't be buying anything written by him again. A definite "No", don't waste your time or money.

I have enjoyed Jack Higgins for years, but this book, and his last 3 or 4 books have been repeats of plots and events. Mr. Higgins substitutes some of the "bad guys" into the same rolls as in prior books, adds some new (and very similar characters) into the Prime Minister's Private Army, and repeats the same events as in prior books. Am I the only one who notices this? I still read the new books because I really like Sean Dillon, but Mr. Higgins must explore new plot lines or I and other fans of Sean Dillon may look elsewhere for adventure.

This a is typical story: we'll written, nicely plotted but typical rather than original. The usual cast of characters follow the usual action pattern. A good, but not great, book.
