If you like a tightly knit story with unpredictable twists and chills, it gets no better than this brilliant thriller. Whatever comes next for this author, count me at the front of the line.

I'm new to Denise Mina and as a listener and a reader of British mysteries, I found her work to be top-rate. Love Alex Morrow; she's bright, honest about herself and her capabilities and has a good sense of humor. I like the way the chapters switch scenes and keep the pace fast. Well written, convincingly narrated without overdoing it.

I've read all of Denise's novels as they've been released and have never been disappointed. This is no exception.

I have long been a fan of Denise Mina, but this novel places her solidly among the greats of the genre: Ruth Rendell, P.D. James, Ian Rankin. Excellent plotting and pace, complex characters, beautiful writing. She has truly found her voice with this mature work of crime fiction and I hope her next novel will not be so long in coming. A page-turner that will stay with you long after you finish reading. Brilliant!
