The author is a wonderful storyteller. The descriptions of growing up in the early part of the 1900s in rural America were so accurate and took me back to my childhood. This is a book I will not soon forget.

A wonderful Depression era story. Six year old Lark tells the story of her Minnesota family struggling along with the rest of the country. Besides Lark and her mis-matched parents, there are several locals as well as family members.....all colorful characters. Some laugh out loud moments and some touching scenes. I loved this story!!
