I cannot put into words how helpful this book was. It helped calm my anxiety when I was pregnant, and it helped guide me through some very rocky parts of breastfeeding. I always recommend this book to other moms that have questions regarding breastfeeding.
  • Must read for all expecting mothers and seasoned breastfeeders alike!

I read this book while nursing my second child. I wish I had found it when pregnant with my first. It is that community connection of "your tribe"kind of feel. The people that really get what I'm going through. Great advice and tips! I will recommend it to all. Would be good for a shower gift as well.
  • Helpful and Informative

This book has helped me through every stage of my pregnancy as well as postpartum. I would recommend it for anyone who is wanting to breastfeed. It has helped me clear unexpected hurdles like gestational diabetes, low blood sugar in baby, engorgement, low milk supply, and the list goes on... I am so grateful for this book!

My baby and I got off to a rough start breastfeeding because of a lengthy labor and complicated delivery. I was in labor for 19 hours and then had a c-section under general anesthesia. He lost almost 10% of his birth weight before discharge and the nurses told me I had to start supplementing. After reading the book, I realized that this kind if weight loss was common and some nurses are quick to say you need to supplement. I learned there were more factors that probably contributed to his weight loss than him not getting enough through breastfeeding. I wish I would have started this book in the last few weeks of my pregnancy or at least right after I had him. So many of the issues we had in the beginning were addressed in this book. When I bought it I was contemplating stopping breastfeeding, but I stuck it out and started reading. This book gave me the confidence and determination I needed to continue breastfeeding. My son is 2 months old now and breastfeeding great.

I wish I'd had this edition when I was breastfeeding my son. It is so clear about so many details that I could have really used, such as how your baby will react once he or she really "wakes up" from childbirth, the most accurate way to judge if baby's getting enough milk (the new standard is counting poopy diapers only, which makes so much more SENSE!!!), and really excellent advice for working moms. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Breastfeeding is such a natural way to feed your baby, but is not without it's difficulty. This book is a great help.

Known to lactation professionals as the "Bible on Breastfeeding" My first copy was given to me in 1982 by my first son's pediatrician, then just a short blue booklet! 28 years later, I still recommend this book as a neonatal RN, Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and mother of 3 breastfed sons who have passed on this art of healthy feeding to their wives!

I am not only a mother of 5 children, (that I all breast fed) but a registered nurse, and I'm not even finished halfway through the book and I really love it! I only wish I would have bought it sooner, it has great preparation for birth and what to anticipate early on. If you are REALLY serious about being successful at breast feeding and want to learn about how much more breast feeding can be than just food for your child, you owe it to yourself and your baby to read this book!!! I'm buying this book for all my expecting friends.
