I’m always cautious about “self-help”. Too many books are feel good bibles, that really change little… This is a winner. When I was beating myself up because a project was going poorly, it reminded me to be kind- to myself. Highly recommend!

Just try a loving kindness practice instead. Regurgitated and diluted wisdom mixed with obfuscating americanized example.

I grew up with a strong veneer. I was always so hard on myself reasoning that if I don't push myself, no one will. This viewpoint got me far in life. But it cost me. It cost me the ability to be compassionate with others let alone myself. I was so goal oriented, I never developed the tools to deal with emotions. Including self compassion. This book changed my life. And continues to do so. It opened up a world for me. I am ever grateful to Kristen Neff for having shared it.
