Description

The beloved New York Times bestselling novel, now with an exclusive letter from Jennifer Crusie in celebration of its tenth anniversary

This is New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Crusie's novel about long shots, risk management, true love, and great shoes. . . .

Minerva Dobbs knows how to work the odds.
Calvin Morrisey always plays to win.

But when they face off, neither one is prepared.
Because when real life meets true love, all bets are off. . . .

Minerva Dobbs knows that happily-ever-after is a fairy tale, especially with a man who asked her to dinner to win a bet, even if he is gorgeous and successful Calvin Morrisey. Cal knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs, even if she does wear great shoes and keep him on his toes. When they say good-bye at the end of their evening, they cut their losses and agree never to see each other again.

But fate has other plans, and it's not long before Min and Cal meet again. Soon they're dealing with a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a freakishly intelligent cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever dreamed of. Including the biggest gamble of all---true love.
Bet Me is the winner of a 2005 RITA Award.

Crusie is one of my most favorite authors, and this book does not disappoint! Love the characters, and the fact that they can't help but be drawn to eachother. Also, who doesn't like a happy ending?

This book was pretty bad. I was looking for a good romance novel and this one was on so many top 10 lists. I don't get it. The female is chubby and complains about it to the point of being annoying. She has bad fashion sense but can pick out great shoes. She's got to have a quirky trait so make her obsessed with Elvis. Give her a weird cat and no cooking ability. Seriously, what has she been eating this whole time if she can't cook? Ugh. It does have some some funny bits I wanted to like it, but when she referred to her love interest as a God for the 25th time I checked out. I guess it must be me.

Bet Me is one of my favorite books. So funny and sweet! Sadly, the ebook version is riddled with typos that should have been corrected before it was issued for sale. I understand how it happens - when scanning in a print copy to make an e copy, sometimes things get weird. However, someone is supposed to proof-read and fix the problems before the final version is released. That did NOT happen here. Maybe the typos have been fixed - I don't know. They still exist in my copy from the early days of the iBooks store. It is unfortunate.
