I read a similar book only to fall back into old ways. This book follows those methods but I have had a lot more success because a few important factors were highlighted that turned out to be what I was missing. There are a LOT of examples but I would have liked to see more geared towards younger children. I have a list of triggers- most being hard to resolve with mutual acceptance because of the young age. I am trying not to be all authority or a pushover and I am going to keep trying to help my child develop better skills. I got tearful at certain parts because this book really describes my life as a parent. Realistically I know my child is not going to instantaneously be free of hyperactive symptoms but I think someday we can get a door without child size holes kicked in it and I know we are both happier that I'm not yelling all the time.

I found the information in this book to be very enlightening! I read it along with my therapist to find answers and solutions to my son's anger management issues. The "plans" were dead on and while my ex was one plan, I was the opposite! My son and I, and my therapist, came up with the triggers for the symptoms and how to implement "Plan B", which continues to work like a charm! My son recognizes his triggers and apologizes when he's wrong and had an issue!! I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who interacts with children of any age for any length of time!!

I think this book a different framework to approach a problem that is more common than expected. This program can be use in the community as well as a home base help for parents. I do recommend this book to my patients, families and friends that want to have a better control of their explosive children.
