Description

This poignant novel about a boy's friendship with a burn victim is perfect for fans of R. J. Palacio's Wonder

From the moment Jessica arrives, life is never quite the same for Tom and his seventh-grade classmates. They learn that Jessica has been in a fire and was badly burned, and will be attending St. Catherine's will receiving medical treatments. Despite her appearance and the fear she evokes in him and most of the class, Tom slowly develops a tentative friendship with Jessica that changes his life.

This quietly powerful novel demonstrates that a small gesture can make a huge impact in someone's life.

I found myself really listening to Tom, it's like I wasn't reading it, like he was talking to me. I cried when it ended. This book kind of fell through the cracks a little i think, and it's sad because everybody should read this book when they can. It gives you a new outlook on life. I have one complaint though, it ended!! I would recommend this book for ages 9-14.

I thought that this book was kind of slow, and I knew it was a small book so nothing huge was going to happen. But, the parts that were about Jessica, I thought had big meaning put into. This book may not be totally interesting, but it definitely teaches you a life lesson.
