This book needs to be required reading in all schools across the world, lest new generations forget how evil came to power, and otherwise decent people descended into a world of unfounded hatred. At first glance, learning of average German citizens participating in the attack on Jewish people makes me think our humanity is quite fragile. But learning of the will and determination of people like Eddie Jacu restores my faith that our humanity is incredibly resilient. I highly recommend this book.

Truly beautifully written!

This book puts life back into perspective for me. Reminds me to be grateful for what I have. It poses questions on good, evil and morality that make me confused and sad. Most scenes Eddie described cause me to tear up. It also makes me question who I would’ve been in that time. I cannot believe Eddie and so many others experienced that horror. I truly hope that never happens again.

If this book doesn’t hit you to your soul, make you forget your problems and motivate you to become a happier person with hope, I’m not sure anything can! It will also make you recognize that hate is growing in this world and hope, being happy and kind is the answer to defeat it!

The candor, warmth, and vulnerability of this author draw you in from beginning to end. It is a story that should be on everyone’s reading list. The Holocaust is an atrocity that needs to be talked about for all generations lest it be forgotten and to prevent it from being repeated. My heart is broken for all who suffered and died and grateful Eddie lived to tell his story.

It’s a great read from start to finish with many lessons involved. I thoroughly enjoyed it. An excellent read. Thank you for sharing your story. It has touched my heart deeply.

Very important for the young occupants of this world to hear and understand.
