Description

The Veterinary Microscopic Anatomy Review series is a 21-volume set of interactive books to allow a Q&A type review of microscopic anatomy structure and function. The histological sections are taken from multiple domestic species, including the canine, feline, bovine and equine.
In this unit of the series, the formation/flow of urine is traced through the kidney, and then the flow is followed through the renal pelvis, ureter, urinary bladder and (female) urethra. The characteristics of the epithelium and the region of the kidney are important to the identification of the nephron segment. The functions of the various segments of the urinipherous tubules are reviewed with correlation of structure to function. A PAS stain is used to demonstrate a glomerulopathy. For the tubular structures of the tract, the layers, structures and tissues present for identification and function are emphasized.
