Tusaayaksat – Fall 2019

In Tusaayaksat’s Fall 2019 issue, we’re looking at everything from spooky stories about local folklore, to head-turning looks on the Arctic Fashion runway, to stories from those who work in the sky! With a new school year, we celebrate the successes of fresh grads from around the ISR who are proudly starting their newest chapters of their lives. We talk to 43-year-old Terri-Lee Kuptana and her emotional experience of graduating with her son, Muk. Dennis Allen tells us why he thinks shame is awesome, and we dig into some dirt with Stewart Burnett about Arctic rocks. We get to chat with up-and-coming model Willow Allen to find out exactly how it’s like to walk both the Prada runways of Singapore—and the hallways of her Canadian university.  Chuck Arnold takes us back in time to look at some archaeology at Banks Island, and shows us around the Tuk Fur Garment Shop to find out where exactly that Sikusi ice worm doll came from. East Three’s English e-learning students share some of their spookiest and most mysterious legends they’ve been told, and the Regional Youth Advisory Group talk about putting a stop to the scariest experience of all—bullying. We then fly down to meet cover-girl Geri-Lyn Guthrie at the Canadian North headquarters and hear from Canadian North team members about the highlights of working in such a fast-paced industry.
