Description

Help me.

English teacher Corazon da Silva attends the funeral of Isabella Morales, but soon afterwards, two desperate words whispered over the phone shake her to the core. Is her best friend really dead?

With little interest from the Colombian police, Cora goes undercover to hunt for Izzy in America. The journey promises to be dangerous, but she’s not worried because her big brother, Rafael, is watching her every move.

The only problem? Rafael’s an assassin, and he’s just shot somebody he shouldn’t have. Now they’re in a race against time to find Izzy before his enemies catch up with him, and Cora isn’t the only person with a hidden agenda.

Quicksilver is a standalone romantic thriller novel in the Blackwood Security Series. No cliffhanger!

Seriously, Quicksilver the 11th book in the Blackwood Security series does not fail to make you forget about your everyday life to finish. It is my favorite to date of this series. Elise Noble looks behind the curtain of the despicable act of human trafficking, along with a deep dive into the importance of family. All the beloved characters make an appearance, with the introduction of new intriguing characters. I cannot wait for the next releases planned for 2019, especially Stolen Hearts all about Black/Emmy.

To start with, if you haven’t read the rest of the Blackwood Security series, I highly suggest you go back and read them. Those books give great insight as to what leads up to this story. This is another example of all the tangled threads Elise Noble is oh so talented in weaving and then unraveling. Soon after Cora’s best friend is presumed dead, she has reason to doubt it. A mysterious phone call leaves her questioning. Shortly there after she discovers that her brother is an assassin. Enter the Blacks and a handful of assassins we have met in previous books, as well as that oh so tangled web that Elise has been crafting since the beginning of this series and you have Quicksilver—A five star read that keeps you guessing as to what new revelation will come next. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
  • An incredible set of characters and an extremely rich plot. One of the best books in the series!

It is hard to write a review for Quicksilver because the story is so rich, so full of twists and key developments in the Blackwood saga that every word is at risk of becoming a spoiler. As in many other of Elise Noble’s stories, Quicksilver cannot be assigned to a specific genre. It is obviously an action packed book, and there is also some romantic suspense in it. However, as the story revolves around sex trafficking, there is also a pretty realistic, but never crude, description of what the life of the women involved is like, with the author reflecting on how different personalities react to such extreme circumstances. Quicksilver also weaves in key developments in Black’s and Emmy’s life into the plot. Many chapters are narrated in Black’s first person, allowing for the exploration of the nuances of one of the most mysterious and introverted characters in the series. The Blackwood team is, as usual, working at their best at this new investigation to try to save the victims of the sex slave trafficking, going against criminal and, sometimes, official entities.  Emmy and her teammates are their usual lethal selves but this case gives them an ulterior motive to fight for a rapid and satisfactory solution.  Finally Cora, the female protagonist, is a very valuable addition to the cast of characters. Her strength and courage match her incredible psychological resilience.  Quicksilver is a complex, fascinating, highly emotional story. It is narrated with Elise Noble’s very peculiar writing style, always avoiding excesses in drama and crudeness, very serious and detached, respectful for the pain and suffering caused by the corresponding real life situations, but punctuated by her irresistible, and never out of place, British irony. All the numerous twists in the story are unexpected, unpredictable developments; a tribute to the author’s creativity and yet another reason to appreciate the book. Overall, Quicksilver is simply too good of a book to be missed. The only regret after reading it is being faced with the the seemingly impossible wait before the next episode is released! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own.

Amazing! As with all of Elise Noble’s books I could not stop reading. I love the characters in the Blackwood Security series. This time we get to learn more about Black. But there is plenty of Emmy (my favorite) in there as well. We also meet some great new characters who are developed well and who fit right in to the Blackwood world. I love how Elise develops her plots and keeps the dialogue witty and fresh. Often a series begins to feel old or monotonous but that is not the case at all. I have read every one of Elise Noble’s book and have literally loved every single one of them. I would highly encourage you to read all of the Blackwood books. You will not be disappointed. Now begins the wait for another of her treasures to come out!
