Description

Chase Calhoun has worked hard at making Calhoun Customs a world-wide sensation and keeping his father’s dream alive. He hasn’t had time to think about settling down, so he’s not expecting to find love or new life in their garage amongst the ghosts of his family’s past.

Charlotte Jackson is on the run from a rebellious past, determined to prove she can be a good mom to three-month-old baby, Zoe. Tired of being delegated to the back office of the racing team her famous NASCAR family owns, she sets out to establish herself as a custom design artist. But her past soon threatens her future and everything she’s worked hard to build is challenged.

While Chase slowly loses his heart, Charlotte learns that sometimes family is more than just blood and DNA.

Sorry. Don’t usually leave a bad review but… The plot is OK, the characters are good, but more research into 1. NASCAR and 2. Parkinson’s. Both are really poorly represented in these three books. You make Parkinson’s sound like a death sentence…there are a lot of different treatments out there, some are absolutely mind blowing. Now, people can live decades with this disease. NASCAR. I am not sure which division you are modeling after, but… this is just a really bad depiction. None of it works this way…at all. You probably should’ve just went with “racing” and left NASCAR out of it.

Really enjoyed the story. Love stories with families like the Calhouns.
  • Good but too short

This book was a good short read. The story construction was solid and the writing style is excellent, but the dramatic pieces were wrapped up a little fast. I can see places where it could have been expanded, and if the novel was at least a third longer it would stand on its own instead of feeling like a prequel.

Finally a decent story without explicit sex descriptions. Thank you.

Chase was a sweetheart. In fact, I loved the entire Calhoun clan. Charlie sounded like a child until the end. I kept trying to figure out how old she was. The story wrapped up too neatly. The timeline was weird. Everything was resolved within a week. Decades of emotional pain was resolved in a week. Not very believable, but cute. Insta-love. Chase is the ultimate dream guy.

What a sweet book. I loved it and couldn’t put it down. A wonderful family in the Calhouns that have suffered much from loss of family members, but stayed strong regardless. Charlie was running from her family which was the opposite of the Calhouns. Hers was cutthroat and devious and callous! Charlie grew with the help of the Calhouns and Chase. And omg he was wonderful with Zoe! I highly recommend this book. Ready for book 2 now.

There is lots of room for more romances in this family of nascar drivers, mechanics and ranchers. The plot of this read revolves around a desperate young mother and her infant. Her need to escape a tyrannical father leads to love and acceptance.
