Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Immortal Faerie and ancient feuds, secrets and sacrifices—a thrilling new chapter in the bestselling Fever series begins, featuring Dani, Ryodan, and other beloved characters, as they battle to save Dublin from the rising of a terrifying evil determined to enslave the human race.

There is no action without consequence.

Dani O’Malley was nine years old when the delusional, sadistic Rowena transformed her into a ruthless killer. Years later, Dani is tough and hardened, yet achingly vulnerable and fiercely compassionate, living alone by her own exacting code. Despite the scars on her body, and driven by deeper ones carved into her soul, no one is more committed to protecting Dublin. By day she ensures the safety of those she rescues, by night she hunts evil, dispensing justice swiftly and without mercy, determined to give to those she cares for the peace she has never known.

There is no power without price.

When the Faerie Queen used the dangerously powerful Song of Making to heal the world from the damage done by the Hoar Frost King, catastrophic magic seeped deep into the earth, giving rise to horrifying, unforeseen consequences—and now deadly enemies plot in the darkness, preparing to enslave the human race and unleash an ancient reign of Hell on Earth.

There is no future without sacrifice.

With the lethal, immortal Ryodan at her side, armed with the epic Sword of Light, Dani once again battles to save the world, but her past comes back to haunt her with a vengeance, demanding an unspeakable price for the power she needs to save the human race. And no one—not even Ryodan, who would move the very stars for her—can save her this time.

Praise for High Voltage

“A romance wrapped up in a thrilling sci-fi novel—what more could you want?”PopSugar

“If you’ve never read a Karen Marie Moning book before, you’re missing out. Her heroines alone are worth the read. . . . Despite being set in a dystopian world filled with magic and fae, the obstacles that these characters go through are very much humanlike. . . . Cannot wait to see where [she] takes this series next.”—Under the Covers

I’ve really enjoyed some of Karen’s novels, but this one is a skip. I just didn’t feel the interactions between characters this time and found myself bored with the majority of it. The dialogue (and inner monologues) was lackluster. Dani struck me as very childish, so I couldn’t see what an ancient like Ryodan saw in her. I liked her as a kid, but her adult character was sorely lacking. I was more interested in Sean and Kat’s relationship than Dani and Ryodan. I did like Christian’s character. And I miss V’Lane/Cruce. I wish he’d found some kind of redemption because he would’ve made an amazing antihero. I’m not good at reviews and I could never author a book myself, but I do believe I have discriminating taste in fiction and this one tasted bland. Hopefully, Karen will go back to writing romance, because I much prefer to see interaction and character development between the male and female protagonists.

Dani and Ryodan together at last. How satisfying. I loved hearing about Ryodan childhood or should I say the morsel that was given. I still want to know more about the nine beginnings.

Awesome excellent book! I have read all in the series so far and they’re excellent! I recommend the entire series for you to read. Dani and Ryodan will finally get what they both want. This book will reveal interesting information about Jericho and Ryodan and the nine. They action is stellar and the story will keep you enthralled until the end. The world will. Or end but lots is happening to Mac, Dani, Jericho, Christian, Sean , Ryodan and so many more. I look forward to the next book!

This series is by far one of my top favorites. I love the storyline because it’s a rapid moving story with so many twist and turns. How everything finally comes together is so mind blowing it’s magic! KMM is in a league of her own when it comes to world creating! I have fallen in love, cried at injustice, got outright MAD, and a whole bunch of other endless emotions while reading this series. This book made me totally put Mac and Barron on the back burner, which I honestly thought could NEVER happen. I thought I’d always crave for more of those two but KMM has done them justice throughout the series that when you finally get to HIVO you’re thinking “More Dani and Roydan dammit!!”. I love the heart wrenching feelings you get when you read the stubbornness between the two. And how the books comes together in the end... well I thought KMM was gonna leave us hanging for a moment, but alas she gives us an EPIC SUPERHERO worthy ending. She didn’t do as much side stories as I’ve come to get use to in this series but it didn’t leave me wanting less either. I crave to know more about our beloved Highlander Christian, and really for all that is wholly throw a girl a bone and give us a few more tidbits of the Nine! We don’t even know all their names! Yes I love the mystery of them but I’m begging for a little bit more! They can’t all like being in the shadows, right??? Even grumpy Kasteo had a spotlight (mind you a itty bitty spotlight moment) and he doesn’t even speak! Why is it always Lor and Fade on guard duty in Chesters? Don’t the others work too??? LoL sorry I have a tab bit of an obsession when it comes to the Nine 😬 Overall this was an amazing book and I look forward to rereading it countless times until there’s more books to consume. Hats off again to you KMM! You Rock!
