Description

Sir Vive is a story of hope for all ages. It is especially written for children who have experienced a traumatic event or someone who has suffered a tragedy.

This book can help show anyone how to survive life's ups and downs. In a sing-song way a loving creature named Vive overcomes one disaster after another. While Vive is sometimes happy and sometimes sad, he realizes that he is still glad to be alive. Yet when he breaks a leg or loses his beloved tree-home in a fire, then in a flood, and again in an earthquake, he does feel the pain and he does know his life is going to change. Vive's strength comes from within. He recovers when he discovers that although he truly misses doing some of the things he used to do, he can find some happiness enjoying other things instead.

With hope in his heart, he always greets the sun with a smile and always looks at the stars to marvel awhile. Yet when the sky is covered with clouds, he pretends to catch a ride on one of their flat, gray bellies as they drift across the sky. And on starless nights he feels safe covered in a blanket of haze and often wonders if there are other worlds like his.

Throughout his life, Vive looks for and finds happiness. After decades of trials he becomes Sir Vive, a survivor.

I hope Vive can give all children reassurance that when life gets tough, it's all right to feel the pain. Vive can help them search for something else to enjoy, encourage them to look up to the sun and the stars that offer them a new day through this difficult time and to know that they are not alone.
