Description

"Now, this is going to be hard for you … but you have to leave."
Adalyn is on the run.
From who? She doesn't know.
From what? She doesn't know.
"You have to trust us Adalyn," my dad stressed.
That's exactly what she plans on doing.
For the first time in her life, she's on her own, and has no idea what to do.

Rudd Archer has lived in the same small town for most of his life.
He's alone, has been since his parents were taken from him much too early.
He's always wanted a family, a house full of kids.
Unfortunately, Rudd is a loner and keeps to himself.
What will happen when Adalyn comes stumbling into his life, renting out the apartment above his house. Is it just a coincidence, or will she be 'the one' for him? Will she open herself up to strangers, or will her past get in the way of her own happiness?
This is the first book in the Aster Lake Series, told from dual POV's.

  • Logistical flaws

If you are on the run, don’t buy and sell three cars. You need to complete paperwork with your name, social security number, address, driver’s license information, etc. in order to buy or sell a car, and to get the car registered to get a license plate. Definitely a stupid flaw in the story. You can’t have a patio off your upper floor apartment. Patios are paved areas off the ground floor of the house. Adalyn had a balcony or deck, not a patio.. The book went from first person to third person, which was an annoying choice that the author made. It would have been better to either do all third person or take turns in first person between Adalyn and Archer. Lots of errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar, but I find that to frequently be the case in ebooks, especially free ones. I’m glad I didn’t pay for this book because it would not have been worth it. I’m not reading any more from this author.

The story line was good, however there was a million other little stories going on in the book that it gave me whiplash. A lot of unnecessary things added to a story that wasn’t needed. Definitely not a fan of this author.
