Description

Now an original movie on Prime Video starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine!

When Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of a prestigious art gallery in Los Angeles, takes her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band, she does so reluctantly and at her ex-husband’s request. The last thing she expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.

What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solène and Hayes navigate each other’s disparate worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami. And for Solène, it is as much a reclaiming of self, as it is a rediscovery of happiness and love. When their romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her new status has impacted not only her life, but the lives of those closest to her.

Great read, I was disappointed with the ending. Would love a sequel to see where the main characters are at years later.

I’m a gay woman and somehow this book has me in shambles. I was inspired to read it after seeing the movie adaptation. First of all, the casting was so incredibly perfect. But the movie did not do this book justice. The depth of the characters, the earnest love and real life problems. I read it in 12 hours. I haven’t poured through a book like that since the Hunger Games series. It will be a while until I get over this book. I would give it a million stars if I could!
  • Decent fast read

Book was entertaining, not what I’d call a literary masterpiece, but an easy and fast read with a decent, if predictable plot. The ending did seem abrupt but appropriate to the tone of the book. Enjoy this book on a sandy beach with a drink in your hand.

decided to tap into this ahead of the film’s release. folks, i was not too disappointed 😌 lol. the ending, though understandable, was… abrupt, and i can see why it left others feeling so distraught. but there were also enough good (and even somewhat shocking) parts to keep me locked in. maybe i’m overlooking any “cheese” in their relationship — she makes comments about his youth and her being “too old for this” SO. MANY. TIMES. — because i partially relate to solène due to being an artist and aspiring gallerist some day. their relationship did have some quite wholesome moments. even the super steamy times had some foundation of purity and tenderness as their bond deepened. also: i too would love to traverse the world with a lover; getting high on life and each other while genuinely growing in love and building a world together.🥹 throughout the book hayes began to appear as the one who was ultimately more mature in many areas. and reader, he really truly was. still, the age gap weirded me out (her 40, him 20 😳). glad they aged him up from 20 to 24 for the film.
  • Loved except for the ending 😭

I feel like I got dumped when this book ended. So depressing. But overall a good read… just sad and abrupt ending that left me reeling!!

Maybe more than any book I’ve ever read, this felt autobiographical. Great praise for the author’s ability to capture this exact life experience so poignantly and precisely. I cried, I laughed out loud. The dialogue…genius. All of it, perfection.
  • What a great book!
