Description

Rules are made to be broken . . .

If England had yearbooks, I'd probably be "Arden St. Ives: Man Least Likely to Set the World on Fire." So far, I haven't. I've no idea what I'm doing at Oxford, no idea what I'm going to do next and, until a week ago, I had no idea who Caspian Hart was. Turns out, he's brilliant, beautiful . . . oh yeah, and a billionaire.

It's impossible not to be captivated by someone like that. But Caspian Hart makes his own rules. And he has a lot of them. About when I can be with him. What I can do with him. And when he'll be through with me.

I'm good at doing what I'm told in the bedroom. The rest of the time, not so much. And now that Caspian's shown me glimpses of the man behind the billionaire I know it's him I want. Not his wealth, not his status. Him. Except that might be the one thing he doesn't have the power to give me.

Through a college phone fundraiser, quirky, college student Arden St. Ives forms an unexpected connection with arrogant, billionaire Caspian Hart. I have mixed feelings about this book. The tale has a feel of “50 Shades of Grey” and “9 1/2 Weeks”. Though the writing is good and the premise is predictable but interesting enough. I, however, don’t particularly like the MCs. I usually like quirky, cute main characters but I’m not a fan of Arden; he is a bit too quirky and a jumbled mess that began to annoy me. Caspian comes across as dark, manipulative, and controlling in a bit of a scary way. I want to tell Arden to run away from the doomed relationship. And maybe that is the whole point of this tale. I’m just not a fan but I did finish the read, so I rate this story averagely okay.

So I work at an Amazon warehouse and as I was doing my thing a book falls as I pass it. I pick it up and the title already interested me. So I'm like "Okay, I'm going to look this up because it sounds interesting and the summary makes me want to actually check it out." And seriously I haven't stopped reading this since last night and it's now it's morning... it's really great!

I totally adore Alexis Hall! Nobody writes a drag-you-in relationship story quite as well. The title of this book, however, may be a bit misleading. If you are looking for a typical billionaire/normal person/hot sex book this is NOT it. First, the physical sex is really kind of extraneous to the story. It's the psychological & emotional sex that hooks you. Though I'm totally hoping this will be expanded upon in book 2 because AH writes a mean sex scene. Second, the vocabulary is challenging (I spent a lot of time hitting 'define' but for me that's not a bad thing, I enjoy learning new, off-beat words.). Third, it's a total cliff-hanger and if I'd known, I would have waited to read it until the series was complete.

This book is kind of for the kinky billionaire loving readers and for the readers that don't get into the mega rich BDSM stories. It has hints of those themes, but they aren't the full plot. It is a romance between Arden and Caspian, but it's really mostly about Arden. The reader gets inside his head about school and life worries. Everything is from his point of view. His friendship with his roommate is very cuddly. He's mother has an interesting relationship. Caspian's sister spends some time with Arden. It's an inside look at his final bit of college and the time right after. Anyone who is a fan of this author, M/M romance, erotica, beyond rich love interests, college and new adult fiction or British contemporary romance should check out How to Bang a Billionaire.
