Description

A disturbing package leads Detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott to investigate four dangerous murder suspects in this "magnetic" British mystery (Michiko Kakutani, New York Times) that inspired the acclaimed HBO Max series C.B. Strike   When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible -- and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men. But as more horrendous acts occur, time is running out for the two of them . . . Career of Evil is the third in J. K. Rowling's highly acclaimed series featuring private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. A fiendishly clever mystery with unexpected twists around every corner, Career of Evil is also a gripping story of a man and a woman at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives.

I think this was a very good book perfectly paced for the thriller/mystery that leaves you guessing until the end. Well done Rowling, well done…

I discovered the Strike TV adaptation prior to the books. Now working through the novels, and , as is often the case, Wow! Book is so much richer, suspenseful, and impactful than the show. Show is good as well - love the actors who do great job of embodying Cormaran and Robin. The books just supercede them, without a doubt. Highly recommended!

I seriously have a lot of other books on my list to read (and a life to live!), but I find myself chewing through these one after another even after I say to myself “OK, just one more....”. Characters, plot, pacing, and solution are fantastic. OK, well, on to the next with guilty pleasure

After reading the first two Cormoran Strike novels I felt something was missing and that’s why I gave them both a 3 star rating. At the beginning of Career of Evil which starts off from the antagonists point of view I felt this series was finally filling in the missing piece that would take it from average to great. As my rating indicates this is a great read

Follow the spiraling, zigzagging & time warped investigation. Strike & Robin do not disappoint as we delve deeper into the essence of their personalities. Great read!
