I cannot remember who recommended this book. It was supposed to speak to the experience of women of a certain age. I thought I was the demographic. I am definitely not the demographic. I like to think that I am an open minded person. I usually appreciate original characters. I just could not relate to anyone in this book.

Ridiculous and inspiring, annoying and fabulous, queer and hetero, mother and mad woman. Yes!

Not sure why this is in the running for a Pulitzer.

I thought this book was about perimenopause, but it really is not. That topic is touched on slightly, but it is not the main focus of the story. The main character is an incredibly unlikeable character with no real redeeming qualities. She experiences some sort of a midlife crisis but learns nothing and changes in no way because of it. I kept waiting for this story to go somewhere or have some kind of revelation, but it just doesn’t. It was incredibly disappointing to have wasted the time on it.

A wise and funny book - good for fans of Big Swiss. Goes too long past when the magic happens though.

So complex. Irritating. Selfish, self centered heroine. Fragile personality. Or maybe not. I am long past menopause. Didn’t go through it like she did. Disdain. Queasy re the lesbianism. But compelled to finish the book. Not sure I want to read this author again.

I love reading and this was the worst book I have ever read. Started a book club and tonight we get together to discuss! Should be interesting! Left me just perplexed that it never went anywhere!

I mean the romantic scenarios are insane and I love it. A little disjointed in some parts
