Ok so I’m going to try to write this without giving anything away or at least as little as possible. This book is so great you’ve got to read it. However, if you haven’t already, I really recommend reading them in order as this is book 4. Taylor is the “flighty” sister, the traveler, the antsy wanderer. She’s been in and out of the other books but in this book we get her full story. I have to admit, I really didn’t like Taylor when I started this book. Her family has had so many issues and there she is just living her life like some kind of vagabond with no responsibilities traveling from music festival to music festival. I struggled with her inability to be stable and there for her sisters even though she and Mindy are fighting and for Jake. Anyway, one Christmas she’s on her way home in a snowstorm when her VW bus breaks down, practically on Atticus’ doorstep. My goodness! I’ll have one Atticus to go please! He’s so big and sexy and sweet. That hunky guy from back in high school that every girl had her eye on but he was shy and mysterious? But I digress. So like I was saying they knew each other in high school, Taylor remembers him being quiet but thoughtful and kind to her in a hard time in her life. He’s so great as a character in this book, perfect really for the flighty Taylor. Too good to her if you ask me at the beginning. I seriously wanted to shake her. But as I read, I got a fuller understanding of what drove her restlessness. A deeper sense of why she couldn’t stay in one place and her secret quest was truly a surprise. This book contains all the things you’ve come to expect from Mary Frame’s books. They’re full of heart, funny circumstances, family and triumphs along with hardships that families experience. The characters are deep and so realistic it really gets you invested in their stories and their HEA. I will say, she really brought me around to loving Taylor by the end and rooting for her to make the right choice. But the ending….(sigh)…it was really just the best.
