Another action packed novel but with a twist… John Sampson telling the story. As many as I have read, which is all of them so far, it was great to get inside the head of this character. And the stakes were as high as ever. Great book and I look forward to the next one!

First in the whole series that I can recall where Alex isn’t the main character and it did not disappoint one bit. As always, details and reality of those details is exceptional. Great read!

5 Stars. For a long time I’ve been waiting for a Sampson book. It took a long time but it was well worth the wait. Hopefully, there are more to come. I’ve been reading the Cross books since the beginning. It’s hard to believe that Patterson could ever even dream up this story back then. Serial Killers, Murderers and Psychopaths sure, but a Coup led by The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff? The truly sad part is it was probably more believable than many of the stories he’s written before. It was disturbing on far too many levels. Please James, go back the Serial Killers.

Yep Cross is down, why not his big huge best friend John taking a starring role?!! Sheesh, some earlier reviews just can’t imagine reality in books that the main character didn’t just bounce right back up and save the day. Scary and plausible scenario in these current climes of hate and violence. Was a page turner from the get-go for me.

At first without Cross, I thought it would be boring. But the twists make it interesting.

Sorry to say that I had to force myself to get through this book. I thought it would be interesting to read a story from Sampson’s POV, but the writing didn’t support it.
