Great read! Blew through this book in less than a week. Could not put it down.
Straight forward sci-fi/military fun.

Fun military sci-fi, a la starship troopers and the forever war. I found it a bit less depressing than forever war, and while I thoroughly enjoy both books, they are sufficiently different from each other that I couldn’t pick which I liked better. TLDR Old man’s war is one of my favorite books.

The right mix of action, technology, and humanity. Add space, mystery, warfare, and aliens to give you a very readable story that prevents you from having any doubt that you will grab the next book in this series and the next.
Terrific

Fresh ideas- the author is creative and kept surprising me with fascinating new scientific and moral concepts and twists. He keeps the action and momentum rolling. Integrating the scifi action with his feelings about love and friendship goes deep, and takes the book a cut above other good space adventures. And to top it all off, Scalzi has a good understanding of the emotional experience of being an infantryman. Hard to put this book down.
Read it in 5 days. Great book.

It was such a good concept, from start to finish i was just fascinated and just wanted to keep reading. I would say what I liked most is the detail, the author gave a good depiction of the action and the environment. It gave me great images for this story .
Can’t finish.

I love picking up a new book where new thinking has taken place. A world of tech enhanced humans was a fascinating idea. Good plot. Moved fast.
Enjoyable read

This was an enjoyable short read. A sci-tech story with enough battles to keep one engaged.
So FLIPPING good!

I finished this so quickly because it’s a great story! The humor is fantastic, the action is just right, and so is the sci-fi. Add to all of that the romance at the end and the metaphysical questions and dreams it evinces, and this story is gold. Already bought the next one. Going to read it now…
