“The murderer is with us—on the train now . . .”

Just after midnight, the famous Orient Express is stopped in its tracks by a snowdrift. By morning, the millionaire Samuel Edward Ratchett lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Without a shred of doubt, one of his fellow passengers is the murderer.

Isolated by the storm, detective Hercule Poirot must find the killer among a dozen of the dead man's enemies, before the murderer decides to strike again.

I am making my way through Dame Agatha’s books and had been waiting for the perfect time to read this particular book. Having never seen any of the adaptations, I was going in blind to the story. It’s so brilliant in its telling and while the construction is a bit tedious at first, it is so worth it in the pay off.

I just finished the book today and I loved it. It is all mystery and detective Poirot is very smart. The ending catches you by surprise because you will never expect it. I very much recommend this book.

Oh, what a travesty Kenneth Branagh wreaked on this book when he made the movie.... Poirot would not have resorted to fistucuffs. Anyway, please take the movie tie-in cover off, remove the "bonus" photos, and just give me back the edition I bought. I want to read the book the way Dame Agatha intended it to be read.

So I want this book in real life, now I was reading the sample, and first of all the author of this book must have done so much to make a stunning book! It leaves me on the edge of my seat! Second of all, if it is such a good book, that there is a movie filled with award winning actors, this book has GOT to be great! And finally I would totally recommend this book, and I hope to see th movie!
  • Hope the movie is better

This was decent. Very short. Not a lot of suspense because clues were collected quickly and all deductions made seemed to be accurate with one guess. The movie will probably have a lot of extras added in to draw it out and spice it up I bet.
  • 9/14/17 Update: Do NOT Download

This update, that updated the cover art to advertise the upcoming Johnny Depp movie had a catastrophic effect on the text. The Dedication and Part One, of three parts, are deleted and the "Contents", "Bookmarks" and "Notes" cannot be accessed. In other words, at least one third of the novel is missing. The book was fine before the update. NEEDS FIXING!!!
