Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts exposes a proud family’s deadly secrets in this passionate tale of two Napa Valley rivals...

PR executive Sophia Giambelli loves her job and has never worried about competition. For three generations, her family’s wines have been world-renowned for their quality. But things are about to change at Villa Giambelli. Tereza, the matriarch, has announced a merger with the MacMillan family’s winery—and Sophia will be assuming a new role.

As a savvy businesswoman, Sophia knows she must be prepared for anything...but she isn’t prepared for Tyler MacMillan. They’ve been ordered to work together very closely, to facilitate the merger. Sophia must teach Ty the finer points of marketing—and Ty, in turn, shows her how to get down and dirty, to use the sun, rain, and earth to coax the sweetest grapes from the vineyard.

As they toil together, both in and out of the fields, Sophia is torn between a powerful attraction and a professional rivalry. At the end of the season, the course of the company’s future—and the legacy of the villa—may take an entirely new direction. And when acts of sabotage threaten both the family business and the family itself, Sophia’s quest will be not only for dominance, but also for survival.

I loved The Villa. I first read it years ago and couldn’t remember who the villain was. What a twist!

Excellent story. Gripping until the end. I only have one problem with it. They kept referring to the Vacas. In context, it seemed like they were talking about hills. Not cows. In Italian and Spanish it means cows. I can’t figure out why they were referring to cows in this book.😂

  • Not typical Nora Roberts. Fail fail.

Only the beginning was her writing and a quarter way in was written by someone else. There’s a difference. Nora Roberts’ writing is brilliant. Whoever wrote the last 3/4 of this book was nowhere at Nora Robert’s league. I’ve pretty much read all of her books. She’s brilliant. This book was a fail fail.
  • Not great.

Repetitive. Boring. Not worth a read, sadly. I’ve enjoyed other Roberts books but this one is really not good.

Great read, as usual with Nora Roberts! Wonderful storyline, believable characters, and well researched. Nora paints beautiful pictures with words and poetry with prose. I appreciate the strong women in her books and the men who can be tender without losing their masculinity.

I usually love Nora Robert’s, but this book started off slow and did not get my attention. The chapter endings skipped and duplicated in the Apple book app so I gave up.

Excellent explanation of how wines are made. I did not care for the story line or the ending.
  • By far my favorite story.

This is by far my favorite Nora book. I just finished reading it on our 5 week long honeymoon in Italy. It’s the 4th time reading it. She combines what I love best about her books, romance, family ties & suspense. You can feel the love in her words. She makes you also feel like you are actually in the places she is writing about which is why I read it again while in Italy. Do yourself a favor & read it at least once.
