Description

Lying on her job application wasn’t the best way to kick off her fresh start in a small town, but Heather Smith is out of options. She desperately needs the job, or she will soon be without a place to live. Even so, Heather truly likes Elizabeth Harland, the old woman who hired her as her caregiver, and is eager to work hard and prove she’s right for the task.

Now, if she could just figure out why a local farmer keeps casting suspicious glares her way...

Sure, Grayson McCade has his hands full with his farm. That doesn’t change the fact that he considers the residents of Harland Creek family, and he takes time to look out for them all. The second he learns a newcomer has been hired to care for Elizabeth, he worries the kind-hearted old woman is being scammed.

Acting on what he believes to be the best of intentions, he sets out to uncover the truth about Heather’s past. Will the secrets revealed tarnish Heather’s new start before it even begins? Or will Grayson help make Harland Creek the home her heart longs for?

Heather grew up in foster care and some foster parents treated her poorly and she became a food hoarder. As she aged out of the system, she became a caregiver. She struggled to make ends meet, she ended up in a small town and treated as family by the caring Citizens. She worked on a flower farm and met her Prince Charming. A great small town romance with all the right feels, especially the clean, Christian plot. Perfect HEA!

Sweet story. Although fairly predictable the story of Heather finding her forever home was a pleasure to read. Brice introduced believable characters in a wide array of situations from unfriendly introductions to surprise criminal accusations and more. Embellished with beautiful flower’s, Heather’s new beginning in Harland Creek is narrated with fresh storytelling. The only ding I have is that he text is poorly proofread and edited. Many words were left out or phrases transposed. I would be glad to negotiate a copy editing deal with the publisher so that such pesky mistakes would not detract from the readers’ enjoyment.

Not very exciting. I kept waiting for excitement. It didn’t happen. Just a story. Not really an ending.

A sweet, moving and authentic romance, woven through with faith. With my work in the justice system, I really appreciated that the protagonist had a history in the foster system-which contains good, bad and ugly. I look forward to reading mire of Jodi Brice’s books and will recommend them to others.

A very touching story but I wish it had been longer. There was so much yet to explore.
