After a bit of a tangled start, this book drew me on into the web of magic and power between three people bound by fate. Good world-building—though a bit confusing at first and not quite explained by the end of this book. An interesting magic system—again not quite fully explained too but mysterious magic is fine. Wonderful, deep characters, nice chemistry between MMC and FMC, and great action and suspense in all the right places. Some may find it tame at times but I appreciated the lack of spice and gore.

Gripping tale. Make popcorn ahead of time.

I read these pages knowing what was going to happen at every turn. I do not like fickle female leads and Nim unfortunately fits that bill.

Not everyone has the same reading styles/preferences, couldn’t continue not because it’s a bad book, lack of interest from the beginning first chapters.

Suspense kept me reading. I wanted to know how everything connected with Nim. The romance felt underdeveloped and underwhelming.

Intriguing, well fleshed characters. Imaginative and creative plot lines.

The story wasn’t bad. The ending didn’t give me any answers to everything going on in the book and the only way to find out is to buy and read the next one. I was really annoyed by the overuse of the word intimation. It seemed to be everywhere when other words could have been used. I was not left with the feeling that I just had to find out what happens next so I won’t get the next book.

I was ultimately very disappointed in this book. If you are looking for a physical description of any of the main characters, city, or items, you will be sorely dissatisfied. Not to mention that the protagonist is a thief… who is continuously caught. It’s as though she is utterly incapable of achieving anything without the help of her love interest. Again, very disappointing. I seldom do not finish a book, but I can’t make it through this one. It’s a shame because the plot has good bones.
