As soon as I open the first page, I couldn't put the book down. The prequel packed a punch and it just did not stop. I'm scared to read the next part but now I have to know what happens next. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it. The opinions and views on it are my own.

5 ***** out of 5 Stars for author Debra Webb's Blackest Crimson, the spine tingling, intense prequel to her new series, Shades of Death. HOLY MOLY, this book is crazy good, it blew me away! Well written and compelling, this is truly a must read! Although Debra Webb has written some fantastic thrillers, her Faces of Evil series being a great example, this book is that and more! Dark, intense with an undercurrent, a thread of something..... more! This is the first book, an introduction to the series, the players, the story and the amazing characters, and it knocked the breath out of me! I can't wait to read the next books in this series and see what dark corners Ms. Webb will have us peeking into, what twisting roads we will travel together and what dark emotions will be at play in each of us as this unique story unravels! I tip my hat to you Debra Webb for a job well done!

Debra Webb certainly knows how to start things with a bang and her latest prequel novella, The Blackest Crimson, is no exception. Moving forward from the Faces of Evil, this new series promises to take the exploration of evil to a new level. This is not a feel good Christmas story, though it takes place during the holidays. It is a down and dirty kick the new series off with an evil twist read. If you are looking for a gritty, disturbing start to a new series this is right up your alley. Though there is a resolution at the end of the novella, the story is far from over. If you like your suspense with a side of keep you up all night, this is the novella for you. Though I recommend keeping the lights on while you read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novella.
