In his book, former FBI director James Comey shares his never-before-told experiences from some of the highest-stakes situations of his career in the past two decades of American government, exploring what good, ethical leadership looks like, and how it drives sound decisions. His journey provides an unprecedented entry into the corridors of power, and a remarkable lesson in what makes an effective leader.

Mr. Comey served as director of the FBI from 2013 to 2017, appointed to the post by President Barack Obama. He previously served as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, and the U.S. deputy attorney general in the administration of President George W. Bush. From prosecuting the Mafia and Martha Stewart to helping change the Bush administration's policies on torture and electronic surveillance, overseeing the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation as well as ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, Comey has been involved in some of the most consequential cases and policies of recent history.

  • Comey is inspirational

I enjoyed reading this book and learning about Comey’s career from childhood to adult, his leadership skills and his mentors and his family. He is truly an inspirational person and a tough person to deal with a dirty man like Trump. His experiences during the last year as the FBI director under Trump was jarring. It’s pretty blatant that Trump is a horrible man just from everything he says, does and has done... but to read some of the scandalous things Trump requested Comey to do and the constant lies Trump told was just nuts. Talk about abuse of power. I hope Comey is happy and doing well with his family.

Comey provides clear nonpartisan commentary on the Trump administration’s clear contempt for decorum and the rule of law.
  • Rename title to “My Ego: How I failed to be a true leader”

Comey does a great job of describing “Ethical Leadership”. Unfortunately, by his own words, he failed to be a ethical leader at every opportunity. Comey is still “A popular 5th grader” by his own admission and never grew out of being a child. Look at how he describes democrats vs republicans. Comey’s bias leaps off the page every time. If you want to see what a TRUE LEADER is like, read Jocko Willink. Comey consistently: undercut his superiors, disparages others with different views, lets his emotions get the best of him and deceives the american public because he was “ordered” to. A TRUE LEADER does none of these things. I guess the title does work, it refers to Comey’s “Higher Loyalty” to his own EGO. I will keep this book to teach my children how you can deceive others through writing. The beauty of this book is how James Comey destroyed the reputation of the FBI, and like Hoover, refuses to believe he did anything wrong. Unbelievable.

American Traitor would be a better name. He definitely had a higher loyalty to the Clinton crime cartel. This leftist tool belongs in prison and his day is coming that the truth about him will be revealed. James Comey is the perfect storm of narcissism, ineptitude and false pride rolled up into one. He has done more damage to the American justice system than anyone in history. Comey and Benedict Arnold Well one day soon be remembered in the same breath.
  • Capably written, but somewhat ponderous.

This is the worst fish wrap to ever be published. He’ll be in prison next year at this time.
