Description

A bossy cat.  An eccentric aunt.  An unsolved murder.

Out of work reporter Clarissa Spencer is being stalked by a stray cat. She can't cook to save her life, her garden is an overgrown mess and her chocolate chip cookie addiction is out of control. Then to top it all off, she gets struck by lightning.

Clarissa thinks she has it bad - until she learns the town mayor has been murdered.  Okay, so it could be worse...

Clarissa makes it her mission to expose the true killer before her arch nemesis - an infuriatingly handsome reporter from the city newspaper - can. Unfortunately, solving a murder is easier said than done...especially with the lunacy in Clarissa's life!

have it 5 stars because it was well written, had interesting characters, a novel plot line and was both easy and enjoyable to read. for me this author fits the bill. I look forward to the next installment.

I found the character to be very immature, lacking in any social skills and apparently dissatisfied with everyone and everything in life. How disappointing, there is no way I can finish reading about this person who is so negative. I thought it was going to be a fun book, but it’s not.

Lots of fun. Great descriptions of Cat. Only a cat servant would understand.
  • The story was magic

Funny, entertaining, and I enjoyed it so much that I did not read the ending half way through like I usually do. The ending was unexpected which is unusual in most stories and the characters were interesting enough to keep my attention without skipping to the end. A few typos and sentences that were cut and pasted without being reread but not bad enough to stop reading.

This was a cute cozy mystery...with a little twist of magic. Small town newspaper journalist, Clarissa had a really bad month...she lost her job, was being harassed by a stray Cat who stole her bracelet, was struck but lightening and accosted by the town's oddest resident. All of this and there was a murder in her "safe" little town. Now Clarissa has to figure out who the murderer is so she can get a newspaper back up and running. And enter Parker, the son of the man who cost Clarissa her job. Her competition- a reporter from the nearby bigger town's newspaper. And he just won't leave her alone. And to top it all off, she learns that shemight be a witch!?!? The story was fun and captivating and full of fun and quirky characters (like Clarissa's aunt). There was murder, mystery, humor and maybe even a little love. I'm excited to read the next book to see how the characters and storyline continues to develop.

I enjoyed the characters and the style of writing very much. The only thing missing is I would like more descriptions of how the characters actually looked like.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The mystery was well written and didn’t give away the ending too soon. It was entertaining also.
